Visit Latin America's first Zen Buddhist monastery located in Ibiraçu, Espirito Santo and enjoy an afternoon in the charming city of Santa Teresa.
About the monastery
The Morro da Vargem Zen Monastery was established following the secular Soto Zen School, introduced in Japan in the 13th century by Master Dogen Zenji (1200-1253), founder of Eihei-ji Monastery in 1244. Throughout his life, Master Dogen emphasized the importance of the simplicity, discipline and practice of Zazen, Non-Action.
Script
The tour will start with a pick-up service from hotels in Vitoria and Vila Velha, if you are not in a hotel you can indicate the closest to your locality as a point of reference for boarding, this service will be held between 5:30 am and 6:10 am Then we will reach BR -101 northbound, the trip to Ibiraçu takes around 1 hour and a half of travel and the entrance to the monastery should be between 8:00 am and 10 am.
During the visit to the Buddhist Zen Monastery (entrance included), an optional mindfulness workshop or meditation workshop will be held. The audience will be guided by monitors, who present and inform about the entire ecological area and the functioning of the monastery. The temples and other facilities are also presented in a historical and cultural itinerary. The visitor can enjoy the natural beauties and walk trails through the Atlantic Forest.
It is important to know that when it rains the monastery does not open, we will soon have to cancel the tour and any doubts regarding the direct climate with the monastery can be verified to confirm the visit. Tel .: (27) 3257-3030.
Around 13:00 hours we will go to Santa Teresa, where there will be lunch not included in the price of the tour. It may be suggested restaurants in the center and leisure street according to the interest of each.
After lunch we will visit (optional) one of the main tourist attractions of the city, the Museum of Biology. Mello Leitão and his hummingbirds. (free entrance).
Here the visitor will get in touch with the rich biodiversity of the native fauna and flora of the region. Inside there are several species of plants and animals such as turtles, parrots, macaws and even snakes. Being reserved a space with stuffed animals, found dead in the region.
Later on returning, we will stop at Claid's Biscoitos store, which maintains the artisanal way of manufacturing its products. There are more than 70 types of sweet and savory cookies. The best is that we can enjoy most of these delights.
The return to Vitória is expected around 17:00.

Recommendations on how to dress to visit Buddhist temples:
Dress in clothes that cover your knees and shoulders. In some temples, your elbows and shins should also be covered, so it is always wise to wear a shirt / scarf / pants / yoke or any other piece of clothing that will cover them.
Never at all times are clothing that is low-cut or glued to the body.
It is a rule to take off shoes and, depending on, even socks to enter the temples. Thus, comfortable and easy-to-take shoes are better, noting that in some temples it is not allowed to walk around with shoes that do not cover the entire foot.
• Confirmation of the exact pick-up time at your hotel will be sent the day before the service via whatsapp. Please note that the service may be between 5:30 and 6h10, depending on the location of your hotel.
Shared group tour
To perform this service must be reached the minimum number of 6 tickets sold. If this number is not reached, the service operator will contact you within 24 hours of the tour to guide you on how to proceed:
1 - Free cancellation and refund of value minus administrative fees
2 - Change the date of the tour, subject to availability.
3 - Change from shared service to private. (For this option there is a difference in the ticket value to be adjusted with the customer).
Private Tour
For this tour the maximum capacity is 4 people.

To refund the purchase price, minus the administrative fees, cancellation must be requested at least 7 days before the departure of the tour.
If the customer requests cancellation at least 24 hours and at most 7 days before the tour, the refund will be 50% of the purchase price. The transaction will be made by the bank transfer service operator only after the purchase has been invoiced.
If cancellation is requested less than 24 hours after departure, the purchase price will not be refundable.
